In a joint operation utilising the Navy Frigate TE KAHA Naval Seasprite Helicopters from 6 Squadron and an Air Force P3 Orion.
This video shows the Seasprite Helicopter at sunset in flight over sea, east of Great Barrier Island with the Maverick air-to-surface missile loaded. The video shows the day time footage conducted on the 5th September in a joint exercise involving New Zealands Navy and Air Force.
Commander Jason haggitt of 6th squadron explains they have conducted the day time live firing six months ago and are looking to take it that extra dimension in to the world of darkness and chick the compatibly with night vision goggle equipment
We train with but not yet conducted a night firing. It will be interesting to see how it goes.
