Air Force Volleyball
Volleyball is one of the most popular sports in the world and this is no less the case in the Air Force. You will get a taste of it during your initial training but it doesn't end there. Each base has a team that competes in a local off-base competition and annually at the Air Force Interbase competition.
It's popularity is due to it's uniqueness as a team sport in that there is no contact between players and so it allows all types to participate on a level playing field.
Those who are selected to represent the Air Force go on to the Interservice competition and play against the New Zealand Army and Royal New Zealand Navy.
The team plays at the National club championships held annually. Like many sports in the Defence Force, Volleyball is supported by the service and you will find that playing this sport is not only great for socialising and fitness but also a lot cheaper than the same level of competition outside the service.
