Softball
Softball is one of the largest and most popular team sports in the RNZAF. The season kicks off with an ‘Interbase’ tournament which pits up to 120 players (men’s and women’s teams) from each Base against each other. This tournament is the highlight of the season for many due to the competition and the social nature on and off the field.
Following this tournament RNZAF teams are selected who then compete at ‘Interservices’ against Army and Navy teams for the sought after Services Champs title. Huge competition here with Service pride on the line! Finally, every second year or so RNZAF teams tour overseas (or occasionally within New Zealand) to compete against regional and military representative teams.
