On commencement of IOTC a minimum of $45,894, however this may be increased depending on your qualifications and previous work experience. Level 5 Diploma Training, Adult Learning or Education. To be more competitive a Training/Education related Bachelor Degree. Proven practical experience in training or education would be an advantage.

// FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
Training and Development Officers are Commissioned Military Officers who maintain the RNZAF’s training system. Their role includes discharging military command and leadership duties, teaching the RNZAF’s culture and ethos throughout the training system, and filling a range of appointments including:
- Training design and development, which involves undertaking training analysis in order to design and develop RNZAF training courses, writing training manuals and providing specialist training advice for RNZAF projects.
- Instructional duties, including providing specialist instruction for other personnel involved in RNZAF training.
- Training management, including making sure training is adequately planned and resourced and is conducted to the correct standard in order to meet the needs of many varied workplaces.
- Base support duties, such as advising commanders on all aspects of training, education and personnel development, liaising with civilian education and training institutions, managing base-level courses, and providing development advice to individual personnel.
- Headquarters appointments, which involve helping to determine the RNZAF’s training policy, liaising with external training organisations, managing major RNZAF training projects, and monitoring the effectiveness of the RNZAF training system.

// TRAINING
First you’ll do 21 weeks of Initial Officer Training at RNZAF Base Woodbourne followed by a four-week residential course to cover the basics of the Air Force training system and help you gain the skills and knowledge to instruct within the Air Force. You’ll then complete your initial training as anTraining and Development Officer by completing an on-the-job workbook, a two-week Training Design and Development Course and a one-week Training Management Course.
You’ll also be required to complete a two-week Flight Commanders Course to continue your training in command, leadership and management. As Training and Development Officer advance they are provided with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills through professional development, including studying at post-graduate level and attending conferences.
