As a Human Resources Officer, you’ll enjoy plenty of variety. Not only will you be responsible for a wide range of human resource activities, you’ll be an Officer in the Air Force, responsible for military duties such as supervising personnel under your command.

Salary after one year: On commencement of IOTC a minimum of $45,894, however this may be increased depending on your qualifications and previous work experience. Due to recognising relevant qualifications and experience it is not possible to provide a specific remuneration value on this site. Qualifications: Level 5 Diploma in Human Resources, Business or Management. To be more competitive a Bachelor Degree in the above.


Nationality: Applicants must be a NZ citizen (some exceptions apply).

// FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

In this role, you’ll be responsible for a wide range of human resource and administrative functions, including personnel administration, policy development and advisory services to Air Force personnel. You’ll also be expected to undertake the full range of duties associated with being an Air Force officer.

As your career progresses, there will be opportunities in career management, recruitment and training as well as employment opportunities within the wider New Zealand military. You may also have the opportunity to carry out your specialist human resource role, or a general role as an officer, overseas on operational missions or exercises.

// TRAINING

You’ll start your Air Force career with 21 weeks Initial Officer Training at RNZAF Base Woodbourne. You’ll also be required to complete a two-week Flight Commanders’ Course to continue your training in command, leadership and management.

To become a Flight Commander, all officers are required to complete further courses covering Service writing, staff skills and professional military education before being eligible for promotion beyond Flight Lieutenant. As your career progresses, you may also have the opportunity to attend staff courses at the RNZAF Command and Staff College at Trentham Military Camp.
