Re-Enlistments

Have you got current or previous New Zealand Military experience?

The NZDF is always on the lookout for personnel wanting to re-enlist with us. Providing there are positions at the correct rank and trade this is a fairly quick and straightforward process. The NZDF can always benefit from skills and experience gained either ‘outside’ or in another service. Any additional or ‘top-up’ training that might be needed will be conducted on a case by case basis, and an offer of service will be formulated after this.

New Zealand Army

Currently the New Zealand Army is targeting the following trades and rank levels for re-enlistment:

  • Ammunition Technician - Private to Staff Sergeant

  • Armourer - Private to Staff Sergeant

  • Chef - Private to Sergeant

  • Crewman - Private to Warrant Officer Class 2

  • Driver Army Logistics Regiment - Private to Warrant Officer Class 2

  • Electrical Fitter - Lance Corporal to Sergeant

  • Electronics Technician - Lance Corporal to Warrant Officer Class 2

  • Electronic Warfare Operator - Lance Corporal to Staff Sergeant

  • Gunner - Private to Staff Sergeant

  • Information Systems Operator - Private to Staff Sergeant

  • Maintenance Fitter - Lance Corporal to Corporal

  • Medic - Lance Corporal to Warrant Officer Class 1

  • Movement Operator - Staff Sergeant

  • Military Police - Lance Corporal to Corporal

  • Rifleman - Private to Corporal

  • Systems Engineer - Lance Corporal to Sergeant

  • SAS Trooper - Lance Corporal to Corporal

  • Vehicle Mechanic - Lance Corporal to Staff Sergeant

Royal New Zealand Navy

Currently the RNZN is targeting the following trades and rank levels for re-enlistment:

Operation Branch:

  • Pilot Observer 

  • Pilot

  • Seaman Officer Principal Warfare Officer - Lieutenant

  • Seaman Officer Hydrographer - Lieutenant 

  • Leading Communications Operator

  • Leading Combat Seaman Specialist

  • Operational Divers

  • Hydrographic Survey Technicians

Technical Branch:

  • Marine Engineering Officer Charge qualified

  • Weapons Engineering Officer - Lieutenant

  • Petty Officer Marine Technician (Electrical): UK equivalent is POET(ME)ART and they must have PQE and EOOW 2

  • Warrant Officer Marine Technician ART with control room tickets/Charge.

Royal New Zealand Air Force

Currently the RNZAF is targeting the following trades and rank levels for re-enlistment: 

  • Aircraft Technician – Sergeant

  • Air Engineer (C130) – Sergeant

  • Air Warfare Specialists – Sergeant to Flight Sergeant

  • Communications and Systems Information Technicians – Corporal to Sergeant

  • Force Protection – Ex Military Police/PTIs may apply – Corporal

  • Helicopter Crewman – Corporal to Sergeant

  • Fireman – Aircraftman to Corporal

  • Medic – Aircraftman to Sergeant

  • AWS (SEM) – Flying Officer – Flight Lieutenant (from July 2013)

  • Engineer – Flying Officer to Flight Lieutenant

  • Communication and Systems Information Officer – Flight Lieutenant

  • Pilot – Flight Lieutenant to Squadron Leader
