Our Role At Home

Seasprite helicopter flying.
We are always kept busy even if we are not overseas. At home we spend a lot of time making sure our aircraft are ready for their next mission. Often these missions will involve flying around and experiencing New Zealand.

// SEARCH AND RESCUE

Our P3K Orions and Iroquois helicopters are on continuous standby to conduct search and rescue operations wherever they may occur. Our personnel and aircraft will get involved with local emergencies when required. Whether it be assisting with floods, helping feed stock in extreme snow storms or providing much needed supplies.

// MARINE PATROLS

The P3K patrols our local waters to guard against illegal fishing and monitor marine activity.

// POLICE AND ARMY EXERCISES

Our Iroquois helicopters support the Police on a regular basis as well as the New Zealand Army on its exercises around New Zealand. The C-130 also supports the Army to move its personnel and equipment to and from exercises as well as parachute training.

// TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

All personnel spend time up-skilling with training when they are at home. This covers everything from aircrew training for the various missions you might experience overseas to going away with your unit to develop new skills on adventure training.
