About the RNZAF

The RNZAF is a critical component of the New Zealand Defence Force and New Zealand's security arrangements.  It provides a military air capability characterised by its swift response, its long reach and ability to adapt to a range of contingencies.

At home, the Air Force has a varied role from maritime surveillance to helping with search and rescue missions.

The RNZAF fleet is made up of P3-K Orions, UH-1H Iroquois helicopters, C130H Hercules and Boeing 757-200s. All our major aircraft types are currently being upgraded or replaced. We also use CT-4 Airtrainers, Kingairs and Sioux Helicopters as training aircraft

Together with other services of the New Zealand Defence Force, the RNZAF is actively involved in a range of overseas missions including peacekeeping operations, UN missions and defence exercises.
